POSEIDON new inflatable boat
A new advanced inflatable boat - named POSEIDON - was built during the first implementation phase of the national research infrastructure HIMIOFoTS. The total length of the new boat is 11.5 meters, its width is 3.62 meters, it can carry cargo up to 1.8 tons, and can host at least 15 people on board. It is powered by two outboard engines of 300 hp each, providing a cruising speed of 32 knots and a maximum speed (engines at full power) of 48 knots, while the boat's fuel range is estimated at 270 nautical miles.
The new vessel belongs to the HCMR’s facilities in Crete, it is expected to facilitate the repeated measurements and the water sampling carried out at the POSEIDON stations in the Cretan Sea, while it can also support the overall HCMR research activities in the coastal zone.
